Description

A proton or nucleus at high energy may be described as a dense system of small x_Bj gluons, called a Color Glass Condensate (CGC). After a brief introduction to CGC formalism, I discuss its applications to high energy phenomena; specifically, to the observed long range rapidity correlations in two-hadron production in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and in proton-proton collisions at LHC, commonly referred to as the Ridge. I argue that Ridge occurs naturally in the CGC formalism due to presence of longitudinal color fields produced immediately after the collision. Finally, I discuss how proton-lead collisions at LHC may shed further light on this high energy limit of QCD.
