Description
Photon diagnostics techniques at XFELs will have to accomplish three major tasks: (i) Photon beam-based alignment, (ii) Characterization of SASE radiation and (iii) Diagnostics for user operation. Photon beam-based alignment will help to achieve SASE radiation, it includes diagnostics of undulator and SASE radiations. Next task, SASE radiation characterization, is needed to optimize XFEL parameters and for troubleshooting. Once XFEL is in operation mode, diagnostics will have to provide users a number of SASE parameters. Diagnostics tools and techniques for these three tasks may be very depending on goals and requirements. Since of the overwhelming scope for all diagnostics tasks, mostly Photon beam-based alignment approaches at three major XFEL facilities: LCLS, European XFEL and SCSS will be addressed.
