PUNCHLunches

Julia for Physics (and Physicists)

by Oliver Schulz (MPI Munich)

Europe/Berlin
Description

Julia is growing programming language in physics, complementing C/C++, Fortran and Python. Julia offers just-ahead-of-time compilation for native high performance, multiple dispatch for powerful cross-package composability and very high expressiveness, as well as multi-threading, cluster- and GPU-computing support and a package management system that comes with built-in scientific reproducibility.

I'll give a short introduction into the language, show some real-life use cases and guide through a miniature physics application.
