The scope of this workshop will be the one defined by the two XFEL Work Packages:
WP3 “Module”, including cold mass fabrication and module assembly, and
WP9 “String Assembly” including the clean room assembly of the cavity string.
The goal of the Workshop is to prepare the Institutes responsible for the production of the XFEL cryomodules to the challenges of its industrialization.
This Workshop will concentrate on technical issues; this will include reviewing:
the state of the art for cryomodule assembly at DESY, Fermilab and KEK in terms of infrastructures, tooling and module handling
the status of the CEA/Saclay proposal for cryomodule assembly
the key technical operations, like cleaning, vacuum checking, cabling and connections, alignment, RF measurements
the interfaces with the other work packages, notably Cavities (WP4), Couplers (WP5), Tuners (WP7) and Cold Vacuum (WP8)
the organisation of the input, storage and flow of materials on the assembly site
the quality control and the transfer of parts and responsibilities.
