Description
Observation of neutrino oscillations show that neutrinos have mass. Neutrino mass implies physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. I will discuss this statement in some detail and clarify which kind of new physics is required. One well motivated type of new physics are sterile neutrinos. Unfortunately we have no indication from data at which mass scale sterile neutrinos can be expected. I will discuss the status of possible experimental hints for sterile neutrinos.
