Description
With a focus on diverse applications in the electronics and display industry, we have been trying to develop integrated processing pathways for nanomaterials. We use chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and our aim is develop process rationales that are based on a fundamental understanding. This talk will review our current understanding of graphene, CNT and Si/Ge nanowire CVD based on model catalyst systems, in particular studied by in-situ metrology ranging from environmental scanning and transmission electron microscopy to high-pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and scanning tunnelling microscopy. We show that this platform also provides ideal model systems to advance the fundamental understanding of phase behaviour, nucleation and interface dynamics for a wide range of materials.
