Description
The history of dimensional regularization, dimensional reduction (DRED), and the four-dimensional helicity scheme (FDH) is full of puzzles and paradoxical, inconsistent, or wrong results. Many issues have been clarified in the past years; in particular it is clear that in all schemes it is possible to obtain correct and consistent results. Nevertheless the schemes have different pros and cons and it is useful to understand all schemes and their relations. The talk will first give a brief overview of the historical development and provide a precise definition of all schemes and their differences. Then the focus will be on new results regarding the structure of infrared divergences of QCD amplitudes regularized in the different schemes. Since it is necessary to understand infrared divergences, the talk will also explain the UV renormalization in FDH and DRED, particularly for the process gluon+gluon->Higgs.
