Can the observed very simple power spectrum of the primordial curvature perturbation be an emergent property of complex inflationary dynamics? Mafalda and Jonny (and their collaborator David Marsh) think yes. They use non-equlibrium random matrix theory to construct a toy model which demonstrates this.
