Description
The Anti de Sitter/Conformal Field Theory correspondence is probably the most flexible and universal non-perturbative technique in quantum field theory available nowadays, which has proven itself to be applicable to many open problems in diverse areas of physics. However despite its obvious advantages it keeps attracting justified criticism and scepticism of many researchers. In my talk I will try to give a brief review of the holographic correspondence, mostly focusing on ideological and methodological aspects that usually remain unspoken, and to provide you with an idea how you can make use of the correspondence when facing a concrete problem in your area of research.
