Description

The gaseous 83mKr source provides spatially distributed monoenergetic conversion electrons suitable for commissioning, systematic measurement and energy calibration in the KATRIN experiment. On the other hand, the 83Rb/83mKr source prepared by the implantation of 83Rb into solid substrate emits conversion electrons which serve in the monitor spectrometer for checking the stability of the analysing high voltage. Here, the production process, useful properties and application methods of these two types of krypton sources are presented.
