Description
Core-collapse supernovae are one of the most fascinating phenomena in astrophysics,but the explosion mechanism is not clearly understood yet because of their intricacies. One underlying problem is the uncertainty in weak interaction rates. In particular, during core-collapse stage, neutrino emission and scattering rates of heavy nuclei potentially affect the mass of newborn hot neutron star and initial energy of explosion. On the other hand, after core-collapse, neutrino reactions on nucleons and light nuclei directly determine the dynamics of shock waves and explosion. In this presentation, I give an basic overview about neutrino reaction rates and their roles in the numerical simulations of supernovae and introduce up-to-date simulations of core-collapse supernovae in spatial axisymmetry with full Boltzmann neutrino transport.
