Description
The luminosity upgrade of the LHC (HL-LHC) is being actively pursued with the targeted integrated luminosity of 3 ab-1 by the year of 2037. There has been increasing interest to upgrade the energy of the LHC (HE-LHC) to about a c.m. energy of 27 TeV by doubling the magnetic field in the same tunnel, which is part of the effort of the European Strategy of Particle Physics led by CERN. I present a few well-motivated case studies to demonstrate the physics potential of the HE-LHC, in comparison with the HL-LHC expectations.
