Description
Functional materials are an essential part of our everyday life in fields ranging from digital communication to transport and health, as well as in industrial production. While the underlying physical phenomena are widely understood, the emergence of ever more advanced devices is crucially dependent on the continual enhancement of the material performance via synthesis and processing. X-ray diffraction and scattering techniques allow researchers to probe the atomic-scale structure of materials and thus understand the origin of their macroscopic properties.
With an emphasis on bulk materials, this workshop will present the activities of the research association Condensed Matter Physics and Chemistry (CMPC) at PETRA III and our collaborators from universities and research institutes. CMPC members include the teams of the PETRA III beamlines P02.1, P07-DESY, P08, P21.1 as well as scientists and engineers from the technical infrastructure and sample environment groups.
The workshop will focus on the following topics:
- Complex materials (session chair: Martin von Zimmermann);
- Semi-crystalline & amorphous solids (session chair: Jozef Bednarcik);
- Energy materials and catalysts (session chair: Jo-Chi Tseng);
- Coordination polymers and porous frameworks (session chair: Michael Wharmby);
The workshop is open for everybody interested and will provide extensive opportunity for discussions and exchange of ideas.
Contributions to the poster session are very welcome.
