The annual Laboratory Astrophysics Workshop brings together German research groups working in the areas of astrophysics and astrochemistry, as well as guests from all over the world. The series of workshops provides a forum for sharing exciting updates on recent developments, exchanging ideas, and fostering fruitful collaborations. The meeting is motivated by new telescope facilities, such as ALMA, which operate in the microwave- and infrared regions with unprecedented sensitivity and angular resolution. This is allowing us to delve deeper into currently unanswered questions in astrophysics and astrochemistry, such as the role of PAHs in the ISM, chemical evolution from simple to complex organic molecules, and the interplay between gas and ice processes in interstellar chemistry.

Answering these questions requires interdisciplinary communication between spectroscopists, observational astronomers, and theoreticians, which is facilitated by these annual workshops.

This year’s workshop, LabAstro2018, will take place from Wednesday 10th October, 2 pm – Friday 12th October, afternoon.

The venue is the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg, Germany.
There will be opportunities to hear from a diverse selection of invited speakers listed as well as the chance to hear about recent advancements in about twenty contributed talks.

Work from the community will also be showcased at the poster session.
