No two beamlines are alike. Still, a considerable overlap of technical challenges exists among our imaging instruments, and common problems are sometimes adressed in different ways. The knowledge and experience gained from the different approaches (failed or successful) can potentially be of great value to other beamlines. This is why it is worthwhile to have a close exchange about our individual activities.

Building on this idea, we would like to invite you to come to Hamburg for the first "Beamline Jockey Days", hosted by the team of Imaging Beamline P05, which is operated by Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht. The event is free of charge. The objective of this workshop is to create transparency about how the different beamlines tackle their individual challenges - with scintillators and detectors being the first topic.

We want to help identify potential areas of common interest, and discuss how we can align our activities around these common topics for a mutual benefit. We want to encourage a fruitful exchange of experience and know-how to help the participants to find ways to make their everyday lives at the beamlines easier.

To stimulate a fruitful exchange, we would like the speakers to not feel to have to “show off” their instruments but to present them with a focus on challenges, difficulties and solutions. It goes without saying that, in order for this to happen, the workshop must provide confidentiality which is why presentation slides and discussion notes will only be made available to others upon explicit approval of the individual speakers.
