Description
In this talk I will present a summary of recent investigations of the Swampland Distance Conjecture (SDC) in Calabi-Yau compactifications. The SDC demands that probing infinite distances in moduli space the effective theory that one started with breaks down. Usually, this is related to a tower of states becoming exponentially light in the field distance. We will demonstrate this for the complex structure moduli in type IIB compactifications and relate that to the Kahler moduli in the type IIA mirror. I aim to give an introduction to the topic and highlight the main results and techniques involved. In the end I will discuss our current research to extend existing results.
