Theory aspects of top quark mass measurements 1h
The status of the theoretical calculations and tools used for top quark mass measurements at the LHC and the physical meaning of different mass renormalisation schemes are reviewed. The origin of the interpretation problem for direct mass measurements which rely on Monte-Carlo event generators are explained and the recent progress in the understanding of this problem is reported. To resolve the interpretation problem essential improvements in state-of-the-art Monte-Carlo event generators are needed.
