Introduction of the next generation FMC/FMC+ carrier and IO controller AMC boards in MicroTCA

Summary

FPGA Mezzanie Cards (FMCs) represent a very flexible and convenient way to realize systems in MicroTCA. With the DAMC-FMC2ZUP the DESY MicroTCA Technology Lab will present a high performance FMC/FMC+ carrier hosting a powerful Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC. This board is well suited for IO and resource intensive applications like connecting JESD converters, image processing and machine learning tasks. In combination with the direct sampling low-latency ADC (DFMC-DS800) for RF signals the board allows processing at full converter data rate of 6.4 Gigabyte per second.

In addition the DAMC-FMC1Z7IO targets entry-level applications. Using Xilinx Zynq-7000 SoC and offering a general purpose 48-channel IO connector on the front panel, this board is well suited for basic tasks. As a platform for cost-optimized systems it provides the infrastructure to replace the CPU module as a base for small MicroTCA installations.
