Description
In this presentation, the scientific background to the ERC synergy grant FASTCORR will be given. The overall ambition of the project and its relevance for XFEL research will be outlined. FASTCORR has in particular focus on strongly correlated electron systems, which are driven by an external light pulse. For this reason, key elements of correlated electronic structures, e.g. as given by dynamical mean field theory, will be provided in this talk. Examples will be given, of how well this level of theory can be used to capture experimental spectra, such as ARPES and XAS. Furthermore, results from model considerations will be provide in order to highlight what can be expected from a successful implementation of FASTCORR.
