Soft X-ray Science at PETRA IV
The meeting will be held as an online event!
This meeting serves for the discussion of active and future soft x-ray users of the PETRA storage ring to exchange on opportunities that arise from the PETRA IV project, visions of soft x-ray science at DESY in the medium-term future and preparation of Scientific Instrumentation Proposals (SIP). The discussion will be based on the scientific drive to use PETRA-IV for spectroscopic and imaging techniques with a specific focus on the XUV to soft x-ray photon energy range. It complements the workshops for PETRA-IV that are held between 19 Oct 2020 and 20 Nov 2020. The meeting consists of a morning session detailing the prospective properties of soft x-ray sources at PETRA-IV and a set of parallel breakout sessions serves to discuss potential SIPs. A concluding discussion can be used for coordination between SIP teams.
The tentative program of the day is as follows (updated 9 Sept. 2020):
AM 10:00 – 10:20 welcome and explanation of the SIP process and tasks for the day
Moritz Hoesch
AM 10:20 – 10:50 introduction to PETRA-IV and aspects of soft x-ray performance
Kai Bagschik
AM 10:50 – 11:00 break
AM 11:00 – 11:15 beamline trends for soft to tender X-ray beamlines
Jens Viefhaus
AM 11:15 – 11:30 potential soft x-ray undulator(s) at PETRA-IV
Moritz Hoesch
AM 11:30 – 12:00 PERCIVAL and TimePix4 development in the detector group
Jonathan Correa Magdalena
AM 12:00 – 12:20 short plenary discussion of the points raised so far
AM 12:20 – 12:30 organisation of parallel breakout sessions
AM 12:30 – PM 13:30 break
PM 13:30 – 14:15 breakout sessions on anticipated SIPs
PM 14:15 – 15:00 reports from each breakout
