Abstract: We discuss QCD analysis of the HERA heavy-quark production and
inclusive DIS data. The heavy quark contribution is calculated in the
general-mass variable-flavour-number (VFN) scheme based on a
prescription by Buza-Matiounine-Smith-van Neerven and the heavy-quark
PDFs generated from the 3-flavour ones using the NNLO matching
conditions. The parton distribution functions (PDFs) are extracted from
the global set of the inclusive DIS data and compared to the PDFs
obtained in the variant of the fit based on the fixed-flavour-number
(FFN) scheme. Predictions of the VFN scheme and the FFN scheme with
account of the NNLO threshold corrections are compared to the HERA
heavy-quark electro-production data.
