I will make an introduction to the modelling pulsar wind nebulae in the context of future observational capabilities.
I will discuss both radiative and hydro/magneto-hydro dynamical models, and what we have learned from them.
Finally, I will introduce a recent trial to combine these two different approaches, and comment on what it can bring anew, and which are its caveats.
