Exploring research data and presenting it to collaborators, stakeholders, or other audiences can be a challenge. Data visualization is a powerful method to explore, understand and communicate data. Visual representations allow for a better contextualization of information and help in creating a pathway through data for our readers and users. Yet, crafting visualizations is not trivial. The variety of tools, libraries, techniques, and data processing pipelines available can be difficult to navigate, especially for beginners. In this workshop, we will introduce the core principles of data visualization, outline the process of creating visualizations and give an overview of online editors, software and libraries. Depending on the type of data you are working with, the desired learning curve or your proficiency with code, this workshop helps you navigate the growing landscape of tools and create data visualizations on your own.
