Description
X-rays are an ideal tool to study the extreme regions in the Universe, from the hot gas in galaxy clusters to the accretion flows around black holes, where the spins of black holes can be measured. In this presentation I will be giving an overview of X-ray astronomy. I will present high lights of current X-ray observations, especially with the German eROSITA telescope, and discuss the scientific questions that motivate the next large X-ray astronomy facility, the European Athena mission, which is to be launched in the early 2030s.

This is a VIDEO COLLOQUIUM!
