Insights on HE astrophysical processes from the laboratory

Many of the plasma processes underpinning HE astrophysical phenomena are accessible to carefully constructed laboratory experiments. I will review some previous and ongoing work in the area, with a focus on shocks, turbulence and prospects for exploring non-thermal particle acceleration.
