Mikrophon, Audio, Computer, TonaufnahmeWorkshop: Podcast Production for PhD students and Postdocs
This 2-day workshop will teach the basics of science communication with podcasts and the corresponding audio production technology. Participants will design and produce their own audio product as podcast episode.

On the first day, Tuesday, Sept 21, you will learn some basics about how to talk about your research to a broader audience in general and about science podcasting in particular.
This workshop day will take place in SR35_108 on the DESY campus from 9 am to 4 pm. You can only attend if you fulfill the 3G rule, i.e. if you either recovered from Covid-19 or can provide proof that you are fully vaccinated or that you have tested negative within the last 24 hours.

The second day, Friday, Sept 24, is recording day! You will be assigned a 1-hour slot in which you will talk with Michael Büker about your research. This will be recorded and become your very own podcast episode. There might be limited flexibility with the recording dates, so please save the whole Friday even though you will probably only spend a total of < 2 hours for preparation and recording.

Please note: We plan to record and publish a podcast episode with each of the partcipants. The episodes will be online and accessible for everyone through our platform "Science Chatter Hamburg". If you are not comfortable with the idea of having your voice out there on the internet, please do not register.

It is organized as a transferable skills workshop by the PIER Education Platform (PEP) and open to all PhD students or postdoctoral researchers in the fields of physics, mathematics or computer science at DESY or Universität Hamburg.

About the Trainer:
Michael Büker has worked in science communication since his graduation in physics in 2012. He is part of one of Germany's most popular physics podcasts, writes books and articles about physics, astronomy and spaceflight and has appeared on numerous radio and TV programs.
