Fabrication of three-dimensional organic-inorganic hybrid materials with enhanced photonic properties

The flexibility, hierarchical structure of cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) provides a framework for fabrication of a variety of organic-inorganic hybrid materials. In the first work, the smooth and compact CNF thin-film is used as a scaffold for deposition of noble metal nanoparticles with a uniform distribution at a low agglomeration rate, leading to a composite film with excellent hydrophilicity and plasmonic properties. In the second work, the 3D ordered cellulose network is used as a template for the deposition of semiconductor metal oxide nanoparticles (SMONs), in which the hybrid materials achieved an outstanding SERS sensitivity with a tailored crystallinity and morphology of the SMONs.
