Description
Many measurement systems include cameras for either surveillance purposes or optical data acquisition. Due to their advantages, e.g. data throughput rates of ~100 Mbyte/s, cable lengths up to 100 m and relatively low costs, GigE Cameras are often preferred. However, the integration of those cameras in existing software environments usually demands a high programming effort and the usage of the camera vendor’s software development kit (SDK). In order to lower this burden, a software interface called “Cameleon” has been developed at HZDR-FWFE. This interface is shipped as a dynamic linked library (DLL) and encapsulates the whole communication with GigE Cameras form detection and parametrization up to image acquisition. In this talk, a short overview of “Cameleon” will be given including its capabilities and some sample applications.
