Offline discussions:
- Latest design of the IP box (Asaf, Ishay, Matt,…) —> following last week’s presentation (merging of the 2 lines, dump, etc)
- beam focusing at the IP
- ICS box design (Stuart+Stewart, Louis, Matt, Daniel,…) —> space?, what are the requirements on the focusing?, who designs it?
- adding shielding on the top of the electrons tracker (Oz)

Louis:
- prefer to have one line (input and return)
  - doable, need special custom made optics
  - bellows are big enough to avoid
  - simulate the mirrors inside the IP box —> Sasha is implementing it now
  - vacuum: elements in the box cannot cope with the XFEL level (1e-8 mbar). use differential pumps between the machine and our setup (1e-4 mbar is OK but we may need better). We have 1e-8 in GEANT4 now and Sasha will check 1e-4 in fast simulation when possible.
  - laser-beam dump can be put outside the chamber ~15 cm in another beam.
  - ICS box maybe we have 20+15 cm

Sasha:
- finishing today preliminary implementation of the elements inside the IP box
- launch by the end of this week.
- will check with fast sim with a vacuum of 1e-4
- need more signal points —> Arka will tell Sasha

Marco:
- calibrate the profiler with a dedicated run with photons —> will get that from the Bremss runs.
- Sasha: will also run this with fast sim for better stats

John:
- photons distribution is higher than in the CDR, probably due to the proximity to the dump
- maybe need to move the screen a few mm’s away from the beam
- design of Cherenkov doesn’t have straws in the path of the beam!
  - but here, we have straws in the path of the beam Cherenkov sees too few beam electrons ()

Maryna:
- dose from depositions GeV—>Joule—>use specific mass—>Gy
- tracker at ~1e-6 Gy

Shan:
- too large background coming from the back?
- need to look at vertices etc to conclude but it is not good to compare fast sim and full sim since all particles arriving to the dump are killed and so there’s no bkg from the beam dump.
