The meeting represented the present situation for the digitization of GBP signals in the MC.
Several scenarios were discussed and the following plan was agreed upon
1) The baseline for the digitization is the one proposed by Mauro and Pietro, based on Allpix2 in combination with Weightfield2. It should take 1 week to implement this structure in the standalone MC and start to get the first simulated data.
2) To verify the simulation results a simulation based on KDETSIM can be developed later on.
3) The code developed and tested in the standalone MC, will then be included in the full geant4 simulation.
With a longer time scale the simulation should be completed with a proper modeling of the charge transport inside the detector. The next Test Beam data would also be an important source of information to cross check and improve the simulation.
In the meantime. it has been decided to give top priority to the simplified 2D digitization developed by Anton and therefore:
i) Kyle should provide the photon distribution data (position and energy) at the exit of the beam pipe (kapton window) for xi=5,7 and 10 and pass them to Pietro and Antonello.
ii) Anton will have to inform Pietro and Antonello about the format of the generated charge data and Pietro and Antonello will have to pass this information to him after running the standalone simulation with the data received from Kyle.
iii) Anton will then provide the reconstructed signals from the strips (charge collected as a function of the number of strips) and provide them back to Kyle, Antonello and Pietro so that two independent analyses of the GBP reconstruction performance can be carried out.
Estimated time to get results that can be included in the technical note is 2 weeks.
