Lattice QCD study of inclusive semileptonic decays of heavy mesons

by Prof. Shoji Hashimoto (KEK)

Description

Experimental measurement of inclusive semileptonic decays counts all possible final states including multi-body hadronic states. Computation of the corresponding decay rate in lattice QCD is challenging due to the difficulty of treating and even identifying individual multi-body states. We propose a work-around to this problem based on a technique to compute smeared spectral function, through which one can reconstruct the decay rate from Euclidean correlation functions. We discuss possible applications and potential systematic errors.
