Description

Abstract:

The Standard Model (SM) of particle physics describes microscopic particles and their interactions with remarkable precision. Yet, it leaves many intriguing questions unanswered. A vast program of searches for phenomena beyond the SM (BSM) predicting new particles and interactions is therefore carried out at the LHC. The proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected during Run2 in 2015-2018 allows to explore rare and to date unexplored scenarios. Phenomena at TeV scale energies often lead to the production of highly Lorentz-boosted W, Z, H bosons and top quarks that decay mainly to hadron final states. Their reconstruction requires a sophisticated analysis of the substructure of jets. This talk will highlight recent results from the BSM search program with large boost and discuss the development of experimental techniques for these highly challenging signatures with an outlook to the future.
