Axions: pushing towards the high mass range

by Alexander Millar (Fermilab)

Europe/Berlin
Description

The axion, originally introduced to explain the mysterious preservation of time reversal symmetry in the Strong force, is currently one of the leading candidates for dark matter. However, as the axion is much lighter than the traditionally popular WIMP scenario it requires dedicated experiments and astrophysical searches to search for it. I will give an overview of axion detection, with particular emphases on the high mass regime.
