News from String Axions and other Weird Beasts

In this talk we will take a look at QCD axions embedded in string theory. We aim to discuss the cosmology, including the issue of the overproduction of dark radiation (for which we present a suitable way out) as well as inflation. Also possibly interesting observable consequences are discussed. In a second part we discuss the phenomenology of a potential violation of Poincare symmetry.
