TA4 WP2 minutes

Datetime: 13 December 2022, 14.00. - 15.30

Attended: Harry Enke, Victoria Tokareva, Ivan Knezevic, Lisa-Marie Stein, Stefan Typel, Archim Geiser, Christian Schmidt-Sonntag.

Agenda: https://indico.desy.de/event/37251/

Topics:

Lisa-Marie Stein, Discussion points to the first deliverable:

  • Analysis of XML format metadata provided by Gaia, ILDG and Cern Open Data allowed to propose a top level metadata representation.

  • Questions discussed (and some answers we seemed to agree): Persistent identifiers or identifiers? - PIDs. See survey https://tib.eu/umfragen/index.php/816227?lang=en by NFDI Common Infrastructures section.
    • Published or public datasets? - Published it enough.
    • What objects to be described by the metadata? -DRP (see WP1).
    • DOI support within PUNCH? Not planned, it's the upper level discussion (within the whole NFDI community)
    • PUNCH identification (discussed after/during the both talks, in progress)
    • How does realization of the first WP'2 deliverable defined?
The deliverables of the current year are internal, so we came to the conclusion that the good approach to face this internal deadline could be creation of a discussion document with a summary of the work, which was done in the framework of the WP and analysis of how it contributes into achieving the long-terms goals of the WP and and TA. Responsible for the first draft: CU?, AH and VT.

Ivan Knezevic, DRP data base schema - work in progress.
Some of the discussion points:

  • Recent updates in the DB draft
  • User scenarios: will our users use the portal to search everything or only the entities with the additional value added by PUNCH?
  • Development of the schema from the positions of the creators of data and providers of data
  • Neccessary balance inbetween the volume of the metadata stored and good finability of the objects
  • Reduction of the schema to the set of parameters our users will really use for the search

The next meeting is scheduled on 10 Jan 2022, 14.00 - 15.30.
