Unfolding Meeting, December 15, 2010

No formal agenda, just discussing items.

Natalie:

Some minor bugs in TRUEE fixed.

Tim:

No  time to work on issues for RooUnfold

Jan:

Compared his implementation of the iterative Bayesian method with the one in RooUnfold - after changing RooUnfold to start with a flat prior (instead of the generated truth) the result was identical. (Might become an option for RooUnfold?)

Katharina:

Met with Jan to compare his with her version. Comparison ongoing (hampered to techincally different input...)

Gero:

Tried to setup TRUEE for the unfolding test - not yet succeeded and then distracted again.

Binning and resolution of the unfolding test seem not to match well:  bin width of expected result is 0.4, but resolution 1.5 => One should probably try with 10-15 bins (or better resolution)

Pedro:

Started on the unfolding test with RooUnfold'd TUnfold interface - noticed (as Natalie) that the first data file prepared by Gero is corrupt.

Nikolai:

Updated Twiki pages on literature.

Proposes to invite Michael Schmelling into the project (nothing done yet).

His paper about parameter unfolding is recommended for publication in NIM (some small changes pending)

Fred:

Nothing on "our" unfolding test since preparing unfolding exercise within CMS, expected to become public Mid January.

Next meeting(s):

• Those participating at the PHYSTAT: Tim will try to organise an informal  meeting.
• Next real meeting beginning of February, Gero will set up doodle poll and Tim will evaluate it.
