Description

What is SciTrace?
SciTrace is a web application to create, run, explore, and share scientific workflows on distibuted resources.
What is SciTrace good for:
It traces the execution of your workflows and makes the setup and results reusable by yourself.
It allows you to share your workflows and their related data without additional resource consumption.
Why a SciTrace workshop?
The aim of the SciTrace workshop is to provide an opportunity for the participants to create SciTrace packages from their own workflows. The produced packages will be used as examples and demonstrators for the features of SciTrace and its role in the PUNCH4NFDI.
Am I concerned by this workshop?
If you have a workflow/pipeline/program that needs to be considered in the frame of PUNCH4NFDI and you wish to highlight the importance
and/or its particularities.
If you have a workflow/pipeline/program that you would like to use as example or demonstration of what PUNCH4NFDI can provide to our communities
Where, When and How long?
The SciTrace workshop will take place in person at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics in Potsdam (AIP). It will take place over 3 days, two halfdays and a full day.
What should I bring with me?
It is a workshop, so bring your laptop with you (preferably Linux or Mac system). You will need only the git software installed, and a web browser.
SciTrace works with gitlab-p4n.aip.de so you will need an account there as well.
The aim of the workshop is to produce Science Digital Products (prototypes) with your use cases, so bring a use case you'd like to bring to the next level: either a jupyter notebook, a list of scripts, some test data with a simple reduction pipeline, some plotting scripts, even some latex sources to produce a paper. If you have more than one use case idea, don't hesitate to bring more of them.
