There will be a "Frankfurt" meeting on January 28, 2011 to collect input from the partners (universities, MPI, Helmholtz centres) to discuss the elements of the proposal of the new "Alliance". Such an application for Helmholtz Portfolio funds will have to be submitted by mid April.
The PB accelerator should identify topics for such a sustained alliance. In addition to the research topics it is important to elaborate on the collaborative aspects and the benefits of such an alliance for accelerator research at times when the topics starts to thrive in the German scientific landscape.
The HEP aspects are particularly important as the there are a separate Helmholtz initiative for "Accelerator R&D", the bmbf Verbundforschung and the structures that have been established by the KfB.
