PIER is pleased to announce its next workshop on joint DESY, UHH and UKE research perspectives in biology, chemistry and biomedicine, this time on the topic of "Structure, dynamics, and function of stress-induced compartments". The event will take place at the CSSB auditorium on Bahrenfeld campus on July 10, 2023, 12:45 - 6:30 p.m. The workshop is chaired by Prof. Dr. Markus Glatzel (UKE), Prof. Dr. Stefan Hoth (UHH) and Prof. Dr. Chris Meier (UHH). The aim of the event is to provide an opportunity for mutual exchange and in-depth discussion of future joint DESY, UHH and UKE research activities in the field of infection and structural biology.
Cellular response to stress leads to the formation of extracellular vesicles or membrane-less organelles such as bio-condensates. This workshop focuses on the application and advance of structural, spectroscopic, and imaging tools to study the dynamics and biological function of these increasingly recognized non-classical organelles.
The plenary sessions will focus on two topical areas:
- Focus on bio-condensates (contributions: Christian Betzel, Arwen Pearson, Jens Bosse)
- Focus on extracellular vesicles (contributions: Mohsin Shafiq)
Scientists are warmly invited to submit abstracts (max. 300 words) to the plenary sessions (15 min talks) or the poster session. Abstracts for talks can be submitted for one of the two tracks “bio-condensates” and “extracellular vesicles”.
