Quantum communication between distant parties is based on suitable instances of shared entanglement. In this talk, I will start by introducing the basic notions of quantum information and communication. I will then proceed with examining graph states, a special case of entangled states that are very suitable for use in future quantum networks. I will finally examine different network architectures, where graph states allow us to obtain an advantage for specific communication tasks and discuss recent developments.
