Abstract:
The talk will describe my academic career starting at DESY via CERN to a KIT professorship with experiments at Fermilab and KEK, as well as my parallel industry career from the foundation of my first company in 2002, growth and internationalization up to the sales of my second company Blue Yonder to Panasonic at a valuation of US$ 8.5 bln in 2021, and my new project bringy Ltd.
All these endeavors based on 30 years of developing, applying and fighting for the acceptance of modern modern machine learning (AI/ML) methods first in high energy physics, then also in finance, insurance, retail, and supply chain industries. They are driven by scientific curiosity and the deep belief in the superiority of strictly scientific methodologies.
I will talk about technical and entrepreneurial, but also cultural and very personal aspects I have learned over decades in science and industry communities and will be available for answering your questions that probably will influence your thinking about your future professional career.
