Questions to all facilitators:

  1. do have special computing requirements? (default: standard NAF account with NFS and HTCondor)
  2. are you looking for more facilitators? (we want at least 2, ideally one of them being based in Hamburg)
  3. are you planning any pre-exercises? (recommended to set up environment)
  4. does your exercise depend on another exercise? (e.g. PAG inclusive jet depends on POG jets)
  5. anything else?
    • 10:30 10:35
PAG exercise: Top mass measurement 5m
Speakers: Henriette Petersen (CMS (CMS Fachgruppe TOP)), Jiwon Park (DESY), Matteo Defranchis (CERN)
      • Patrick: a single common space, I'm not sure it's possible, but NFS is readable by everyone, so people should be able to share their results rather easily
      • Alex: no, it's possible, we had that at the last school

      • Patrick: you mentioned issues to install CMSSW on afs, but I'm suprised, I do that everyday.
      • Alex: anyway, for simplicity, I suggest that everyone use nfs
      • Jiwon (update after meeting): Christoph checked the issue and confirmed that there are annoying warnings and changes in file permissions for almost all releases. He suggested it might be due to AFS update today, and will work on it.

      • Patrick: I wouldn't use any zoom account.
      • Alex: there will be a mattermost channel, in case
      • Patrick: over the weekend, you don't have to come on Sunday, there will only be a room opened for students if they want to play with the exercise
    • 10:40 10:45
PAG exercise: Long lived particle search ** CANCELLED !!!! ** 5m
Speakers: Karim El-Morabit (UNI/EXP (Uni Hamburg, Institut fur Experimentalphysik)), Lisa Benato (Hamburg University)
      • Patrick: we need to find replacement, Louis had an idea of recycling the framework for the SMP exercises to a bump search in dijet signal (TBD)
      • Louis: preparing the exercise should be feasible, main issue is person power...

      • Alex: discussing with Isabell to see if we can have an alternative from DESY (TBC)
    • 10:50 10:55
PAG exercise: Higgs with columnar analysis 5m
Speakers: Daniel Savoiu (UNI/EXP (Uni Hamburg, Institut fur Experimentalphysik)), Matteo Bonanomi (UNI/EXP (Uni Hamburg, Institut fur Experimentalphysik)), Philip Keicher (Universität Hamburg)
      • Nothing special to report / request
      • All seems on good track
    • 11:00 11:05
PAG exercise: TTbar cross section at 13.6 TeV 5m
Speakers: Evan Ranken (CMS (CMS Fachgruppe TOP)), Laurids Jeppe (CMS (CMS Fachgruppe TOP))
      • private chat with Evan and Laurids last week
      • exercise in a mature state, all on tracks
    • 11:10 11:15
      PAG exercise: SMP Z->mumugamma 5m
Speakers: Ankita Mehta (UNI/EXP (Uni Hamburg, Institut fur Experimentalphysik)), Louis Moureaux (UNI/EXP (Uni Hamburg, Institut fur Experimentalphysik)), Paris Gianneios, Patrick Connor (UNI/EXP (Uni Hamburg, Institut fur Experimentalphysik) & CDCS), Ms Ying An (CMS (CMS Fachgruppe TOP))
      • similar to other inclusive jet analysis in terms of context, but with muons and photons rather than jets
      • most things are implemented, missing the final fit
      • we don't yet have a precise timetable
    • 11:20 11:25
      PAG exercise: Inclusive jet 5m
Speakers: Patrick Connor (UNI/EXP (Uni Hamburg, Institut fur Experimentalphysik) & CDCS), Polidamas Kosmoglou, Simone Amoroso (CMS (CMS Fachgruppe QCD)), Valentina Guglielmi (CMS (CMS Fachgruppe QCD))
      • Andreas: seems a lot
      • Patrick: not much programming in fact, it's more focused on physics, so students run executables on n-tuples and see how the events and distributions change at each step of the analysis
