Lattice simulations beyond QCD: numerical investigations of supersymmetric and near conformal gauge theories

Description
In this talk, I discuss different motivations to study theories beyond the Standard Model using numerical lattice simulations. These are related to the two fundamental questions how supersymmetry and a conformal behavior can be realized on the lattice. I will in particular review our recent results for supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. I will also summarize investigations of candidate theories for a conformal infrared fixed point.
