Description
The CMS group at DESY is heavily involved in the construction of the Phase-2
upgrade for the Outer Tracker and is responsible for the integration of one
of the endcaps. The endcap comprises five double disks, each built from four
half disks (Dee). As the integration work is scheduled to start at the end
of 2024, over the course of the year we will receive pre-production parts,
both for the detector mechanics as well as detector modules. The design and
construction of the integration setups and cold tests is ongoing, which will
require extensive commissioning. The student will participate in the
qualification of pre-production parts (infrared measurements, metrology
etc.), construction and commissioning of test setups, as well as test runs
of integration, such as module to Dee integration and services routing or
double disk integration.
