Novel photocathodes for CW SRF L-band electron source for EuXFEL

Not scheduled
20m

Description

For future CW / HDC upgrade of the EuXFEL the CW L-band electron source is under development at DESY. Photocathode is critical component of the electron source. When it comes to complex SRF technology, finding suitable material with sufficient QE and compatible with clean SRF environment becomes challenging. Therefore, special RnD for novel photocathode development suitable for integration in the CW SRF electron source is ongoing at DESY. This involves nanostructured photocathodes for which simulations and lab work is ongoing.

Successful summer student will have a chance to participate in computational work concentrated on surface plasmon phenomena applied to photoemitters as well as to take part in small scale experiments at one of the laser labs.
