Description

Optical Cherenkov signals from up-going air showers show promise for detection of skimming tau neutrinos. The EUSO-SPB2 balloon-based Cherenkov telescope, and its successor POEMMA-Balloon with Radio,  are designed for searches of transient very high-energy neutrino sources. The sub-orbital instruments are pathfinders for a satellite-based telescopes like those proposed for POEMMA. The neutrino target-of-opportunity program of these instruments is discussed, as are the theoretical inputs to evaluating their sensitivities to neutrino sources.
