ATTENTION! We have to do a short maintenance with downtime on Wed 8 Oct 2025, 09:00 - 10:00 CEST . Please finish your work in time to prevent data loss.

Regina Hinzmann (IT (IT Information Fabrics))

Protokoll 10:01-10:27

Marina S had unfortunately to postpone her presentation about dCache, this will be made up for next Monday.

Regina instead gave an update on DOI minting process: One of the current issues is to get the problem solved how to ingest a beamtime that has million of files into one dataset. Technically this seems challenging the way we do it for now. Stefan D, Igor, Noel, Johannes and me will look for solutions tomorrow (planned). An alternative would be to proceed with FLASH as their datatypes are much more manageable. To-do: double check with Jürgen H, but Dima K gave already an idea: typical data at FLASH are organised in 10 files per run and there are around 200 runs per beamtime.

Despite these promising numbers it is not clear who can actually check the code to setup the workflow.

Overall bottomline of SciCat at DESY: we do want to stick to SciCat at DESY means we must invest in coding efforts.

      SciCat and dCache 20m

There used be ideas about using dCache for SciCat, but this was a long time ago - so long that we need an update on this! Marina will tell us all about it!

Speaker: Marina Sahakyan (IT (IT Scientific Computing))
