"Everything you always wanted to know about SPRIND (and never dared to ask)"

Barbara Diehl is in charge of partnerships at SPRIND, nationally as well as internationally. Coming from the Helmholtz cosmos she joined SPRIND at the end of 2020. Before moving to SPRIND, she successfully worked 10 years in Great Britain and Ireland: at the Entrepreneurship Center at Oxford University (2008-2015) and the Innovation Academy at University College Dublin (UCD) (2015-2018). Barbara's particular strength: she can give researchers and scientists the confidence to develop and test their creative and entrepreneurial skills and support them in all the stages of transferring their research into application.

The strapline of this talk is taking a cheeky leaf out of Woody Allen's playbook and his 1972 comedy 'Everything you always wanted to know about sex...'. The Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation (SPRIND) was set up in 2019 as a new funding body by the German government to bridge the financial 'valley of death' of early stage technology project whose translational pathways are still fraught by high risk, but which - if successful - have great socioeconomic breakthrough potential. It is looking for ground-breaking technologies and teams who are motivated and driven to create positive impact from the science base in order to solve the great social, ecological and economic challenges of our time. If you are curious to learn more about this new(ish) kid on the innovation block, please join us for this talk.
