Igor kindly gave a visual update on his ongoing work on SciCats frontend in the context of UI search.

RH presented five github issues related to DESY concerns and we went though them one by one. Reappearing conclusion: we need a person to code, otherwise we have to wait.

Issue 01: actually two issues: First solve #138, then go on with #119.

Issue 02: contribute test framework DESY internal purposes (workflow pipeline based on pySciCat)

Issue 03: is about tidying up code, make things nice but functionality is in place → nice-to-have.

Issue 04: good for DESY as BE is sufficient. Also relevant for Neele’s work.

Issue 05: Would be beneficial for DESY, because

1. abstraction level of grouping would help in data analysis

2. saves potential duplication (of metadata, e.g. have only one abstract for several datasets, selection of one set of datasets serves for analysis and DOI publication).

Conclusion: Since 04 is OK, highest priority would be atomic_patching (issue no 02).

other updates:

  • Neele started her bachelor thesis: implementation of a website for a more comfortable way for the user. She is in the process of defining the websites requirements. Project will take five to six weeks.
  • Paul reported on Tims work that he implemented a CLI tool to public-data.desy.de server to make ingestion more comfortable - which is one step within "lots of open questions".
