Are you approaching the end of your doctorate and thinking about the next step in your career? Do you wonder what your strengths and talents are and what kind of job will suit you?
In this interactive workshop, we will explore topics so as to enable you to make an informed and educated decision in finding what you want to do next and get prepared for it. This intensive workshop on career orientation is tailored for doctoral researchers in 2nd or 3rd year of their doctorate.
This seminar consists of 8 sessions, including mentoring in pairs and individual career coaching on the following Tuesdays (24 September - 13 December 2024):
1) 24 September: 2:00-6:00 p.m. (Career Orientation session 1 of 8)
2) 1 October: 3:30-6:00 p.m. (Career Orientation session 2 of 8)
3) 15 October: 3:30-6:00 p.m. (Career Orientation session 3 of 8)
4) 22 October 3:30-6:00 p.m. (Career Orientation session 4 of 8)
5) Online: Career Orientation session 5 of 8: Mentoring in pairs (online, to be set with participants 24 October – 8 November)
6) Online: 19 November: 3:30-6:00 p.m (Career Orientation session 6 of 8)
7) 26 November: 3:30-6:00 p.m. (Career Orientation session 7 of 8)
8) Online: Career Orientation session 8 of 8: individual coaching (online, to be set with participants between 28 November - 13 December)
Please note that you need to attend at least 6 of 8 sessions to receive a certificate.

This workshop is part of the transferable skills portfolio of the PIER Education Platform (PEP) on the Science Campus Bahrenfeld. The workshops are usually one-day courses for a maximum number of 12-15 participants and are offered once or twice a year. The trainers are carefully selected experts with many years of experience in teaching scientists. Some of the workshops are open for postdocs. The workshops offered in the PIER Education Platform are a cooperation between the PIER Helmholtz Graduate School and its partner organisations and institutes Quantum Universe Research School QURS, The Hamburg Centre for Ultrafast Imaging CUI, and HELIOS.
